The Monaco Yacht Show is the most prestigious gathering of large ships on the planet : A selection of 100 exceptional super and mega-yachts from 25 to over 90 m long are presented by the most renowned brokers and shipyards.

It is a unique, world-first occasion to visit fortyish of the most beautiful motor and sailing-yachts built in 2010 and whose average size is about 45 meters in length.

I thought I would add these gems first off the bat for the visitor to Monaco.

RESTAURANTS:

BeefBar for the carnivore. A very modern restaurant spot in the port of Fontvielle and a must on a trip to Monaco.

Cafe de Paris or Quai des Artiste for a true Brasserie type style experience and a good seafood tower.

Restaurant Yoshi

Newcomer, is the brain child of Joel Robuchon’s new Japanese Restaurant Yoshi, adjacent to the Hotel Metropole. Joel Robuchon is a man of fashion. And the fashion of the moment is called Japanese food. Yoshi is the first Joel Robuchon’s Japanese restaurant in the world. It was opened in Metropole hotel in Monaco where there is one Robuchon’s restaurant already. The chef in the kitchen is 39 nine year old chef from Japan Takeo Yamazaki, while Joel Robuchon does the guidance.

Is sports one of the best views in the Principality, and certainly one of the finest kitchens with a stupendeous take on the grills sizzling the steaks and chickens, that are on offer on the menu.

During balmy spring and summer evenings, the roof top opens up to a starry night above.

Definitely a must go, for the food enthusiast. And the soufflee selections “served at the hotel for the first time in 1898.

Maya Bay

Upscale and stylish, Maya Bay is located poolside at the Roccabella condominium complex. Tropical in feeling with lush foliage, impressive flower arrangements and summery colors, the restaurant mixes Thai and Asian cuisines to stunning effect. Definitely the best Asian restaurant in Monaco at the moment.

Kitzbühel is again starting the year with an action-packed snow show: preparations for the 8th Valartis Group Snow Arena Polo World Cup are gathering speed. The Polo horses will spend 3 days galloping around the Münichauer Wiese showground just outside of Kitzbühel.

Enjoy free entry to this exclusive world class event from 15 to 17 January 2010 & for sure you will find members of the Praetorian Guard in the VIP area sipping champagne, and enjoying the event and one of the real Gentlemen’s sports, Polo.

The event will officially open on the Thursday. The ‘Polo Parade’ will take place from 17:00 in the centre of Kitzbühel with the official presentation of the teams and sponsors. The participants will be taken through the city centre in horse-drawn carriages and on to the stage at the ‘Hotel zur Tenne’.

Then it’s all about sport from Friday to Sunday. In the morning, the action-packed games begin at the Münichauer Wiese in Reith bei Kitzbühel. Guests and locals are invited to come and learn about this sport, enjoying free entry to the event.

Polo is a team sport with 4 players per team on horse-back. The aim is to use a long wooden stick to hit a 7-8 cm ball weighing 130 grams into their opponent’s goal. Each player wears a polo helmet and face mask for protection and changes between several horses during the game so as not to overtire the animals. Polo has caused a stir in the German-speaking countries through the participation of royal players such as Prince Charles. It is not without good reason that polo is known as the ‘game of kings’.

Polo dates back to Ancient Persia in around 600 BC. It then spread to Arabia and India during the Islamic expansion. English cavalier officers stationed in India then brought polo to Great Britain in the 19th century and then to South America.

Easy Parking.com: Is a brilliant concept that I am trying out just now, and it seems well worth the extra euro pr day that it costs.

 - book online a day in advance and a ‘valet’ will pick up your car at the airport, and do any number of services for your car while you are on a trip from just parking it, to a full wash, service, paint job or change winter tires.
